Supervision of arrested care

All individuals in custody are at all times entitled to:

  • adequate shelter and safe surroundings
  • sufficient clean drinking water
  • sufficient food
  • access to sanitation
  • access to legal counseling
  • access to medical care
  • protection from physical and mental abuse

The Commission that supervises the arrested care – CTA CW – ensures that the arrested is treated right.

Anyone who feels that he is not (or has not been) treated properly during the arrest, transport or confinement can file a complaint.

To this end, the CTA CW has established a complaints procedure. The commission will investigate the complaint and if it has been found justified, the Minister of Justice will be advised on measures to prevent reoccurrence.
